From watching SAMAs at home to the VVIP Seats

As a young boy, like many other South Africans, for the past two decades, I grew up watching the South African Music Awards (SAMA) on Television. I would be lying if I say on a comfort couch because, we did not have couches or television at home, and we relied on neighbours. However, on the April 2015 I was in Sun City amongstthe VVIPs at the SAMAs.

I had a life time experience. Arrived a day before the main event, for the pre –parties, where Stoane Seate and ThatoMolamu were the MCs. On that night I danced and spit words along with motswakopioneers and new comers such as the likes of HHP,Mo’Molimi,TuksSenganga, Lexion,Notshi, Fifi Cooper and many more.

On the actual night of the awards (where HHP was the MC) , on my arrival,myself and couple of friends and acquaintances took lots and lots of pics on a red carpet before we were accompanied to our respective VVIP Seats.My highlight of the SAMAs wasCassperNyovest’s performance. Even at VIP after party-party, he still maintained his standard.He is a Motswako Hip-Hop beats and he became crazy when his on stage. Although he did not walk away with awards that did not stop him from making the who’s who scream his name, sang along to his rhythms and mostly make them dance as if no-one is watching. He is a game changer, has brought a newflair to motswako music.
